Covid-19 Update: South Australia introduces tougher restrictions from midnight tonight, Northern Territory extends lockdown

Covid-19 Update: South Australia introduces tougher restrictions from midnight tonight, Northern Territory extends lockdown

Dear Members,

South Australia introduces tougher restrictions from midnight tonight, Northern Territory extends lockdown

South Australia

The South Australian Government has introduced revised Public Health Orders, effective from midnight today, Monday 28 June.

Tightened restrictions are expected to be in place for at least a week.

There is no change to retail, however, the below affects personal care settings and the hospitality sector.

Masks

  • Reintroduced for high-risk settings. This includes aged care, hospitals, personal care settings.
  • Highly recommended on public transport.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory has extended current restrictions for another 3 days, now ending Friday 2 July

From 1 pm on 27 June, 2021 residents from Darwin, Palmerston and the rural areas must stay at home during this period.

All people in Greater Darwin will be required to stay in their home or accommodation during this time. Hotel and accommodation providers will be able to stay open to support guests already onsite, people with bookings or people in need of accommodation who are already in the Greater Darwin region.

Your place of residence is where you are now. Territorians in the lockdown areas should not travel – including out of the Territory – unless it is for one of the five reasons.

People are only permitted to leave home for the following five reasons. Masks must be worn at all times when leaving home:

  1. To receive health care or attend medical appointments. Including getting the COVID-19 vaccine
  2. To undertake shopping and get necessary goods and services. Supermarkets will stay open, so there is no need to stock up on groceries.
  3. To exercise for up to one hour a day within 5km of your home and only with members of your household or one other person.
  4. To undertake essential work. If you can work from home – you must work from home.
  5. In case of an emergency or if there is family violence or to provide essential care to a loved one or dependent.

All businesses, retail outlets, hospitality venues, gyms, pools and community centres will be closed. Cafes and restaurants will be able to offer takeaway and delivery services.

Although it is school holidays, schools and vacation care will be closed except for the children of essential workers. Childcare centres will open only for the children of essential workers.

In addition to this, there is a new direction on masks. For everyone in the lockdown area, masks must be worn if you leave your place of residence. It is an offence not to comply with CHO Directions and fines will be issued for those failing to follow lockdown directions.

A 24-hour hotline has been established to provide information about the NT lockdown arrangements: 1800 193 111. More information and updates can be found here

Yours sincerely,

Brendan Tohill | Chief Executive Officer
