SA COVID-19 UPDATE

Current business restrictions for coronavirus (COVID-19) in Queensland

Dear Members,

Queensland is set to ease restrictions for entry to Queensland on 17 December 2021. This is when we expect at least 80% of Queenslanders, 16 years and older, to be double vaccinated. Restrictions may ease if Queensland is 80% double vaccinated before this date.

Some businesses will be required to restrict entry to unvaccinated people from this date. This includes yourself as a business owner and your employees if not fully vaccinated.

Vaccinated people will be able to visit or attend (with no capacity restrictions):

  • hospitality venues (e.g. hotels, pubs, clubs, taverns, bars, restaurants, cafes)
  • indoor entertainment venues (e.g. nightclubs, live music venues, karaoke bars, concerts, theatres, cinemas)
  • outdoor entertainment activities (e.g. sporting stadiums, theme parks)
  • indoor and outdoor festivals (e.g. musical festivals, folk festivals, arts festivals)
  • Queensland Government-owned galleries, museums, or libraries
  • weddings.

Unvaccinated people will be able to visit essential services (e.g. grocery stores, pharmacies, post offices, newsagents, clothing stores, limited retail stores, gyms) and attend funerals. Weddings are restricted to a maximum of 20 people if anyone attending is unvaccinated.

Racheal Telehin has been lucky enough to be able to manage Churchill Newsagency, a wonderful little store in Hazelwood Village.

One of the key things Racheal believes makes a store great is having a fantastic team, who are customer orientated.

The store prides itself on being very community-minded, by giving sponsorship or support for raffles and fundraisers.

During the many lockdowns, they have had to diversify into other areas such as clothing and also having consignment stock from local artists, which has been very successful.

The store’s main focus going forward is to be able to offer a variety of different products, to make it convenient for their customers to purchase everything from magazines, Lotto, clothing, toys and giftware.

Racheal’s advice for anyone thinking of getting into the field, is to think outside the box and to listen to your customer. It’s a very rewarding job!

VACCINE PASSPORT CHECKING ONLY UNTIL 6PM FRIDAY NIGHT

VACCINE PASSPORT CHECKING ONLY UNTIL 6PM FRIDAY NIGHT

Good Afternoon Members,

It has just been confirmed by the State Government that our members will not need to check vaccination status from 6 pm Friday night October 29.

Please see below.

What vaccination requirements apply in retail at Phase C of the Roadmap?

Victoria’s Chief Health Officer has determined that on Friday 29 October at 6:00 pm, Victoria will move forward in opening up and more restrictions will ease away. Metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria will operate under the same settings and retail will be open.

Customers attending general retail (e.g. clothing store) and essential retail (e.g. supermarket) will not be required to provide information on being fully vaccinated. Workers in general retail (e.g. clothing store) and essential retail (e.g. supermarket) are required to be vaccinated by the dates specified in the COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions (second dose required by 26 November 2021).
