South Australia ‘moves into lockdown’

South Australia ‘moves into lockdown’

South Australia will go into lockdown from 6:00pm tonight, after health authorities confirmed the state’s outbreak is the Delta strain.

They have so far identified five cases linked to the current cluster.

The lockdown will last for seven days.

“We hate putting these restrictions in place but we believe we have one chance to get this right,” Mr Marshall said.

“We have no alternative but to impose some fairly heavy and immediate restrictions to come in — at 6:00pm tonight South Australia moves into lockdown,” the Premier said.

The NLNA will keep you posted across moves from SA Government.

Drop in cases as NSW reports 78 new COVID-19 infections

Drop in cases as NSW reports 78 new COVID-19 infections

New South Wales has reported 78 local coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, with 27 of those people infectious while out in the community.
It is the second lowest daily case number in NSW since July 11.
However there is concern over the delay of some test results, after at least one of the private labs contracted by government has been struggling to keep up with the volume.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said 63,000 people had been tested in 24 hours, with big increases in the Fairfield local government area.
In response to reports of some tests taking days to confirm results, NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said “one of the private labs in particular did have some issues with scale, and you can imagine it has been a double edge sword.”
“We’re working closely with that company, they’re putting a lot of additional measures (in place) to call on lab capacity in other states,” she said.
